Final Preparations for a 2017 Stair Climb
A few weeks ago the organizers of the NH 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb announced they were unable to organize the event this year:
We would like to thank everyone that has supported us for the NH 9/11 Stair Climb over the past 6 years: all of the climbers, the volunteers, the staff, our coordinators, the community, and our sponsors. As a result of the Stair Climbs, we have raised over $100,000 in donations to the National Fire Fighters Foundation and are very proud to have been a part of this memorable event.
We appreciate the inquiries regarding a NH 9/11 Stair Climb in 2017, but unfortunately we will not be hosting a climb this year due to a number of circumstances that prevent us from being able to give 100% to making another successful event. If you are interested in donating directly to NFFF, you can visit their website https://www.firehero.org/.
Needless to say, a lot of us were disappointed. In typical firefighter fashion, a few of us felt passionate enough to make something happen to fill the void for 2017. We are happy to announce that we are in final preparations with the NH Fisher Cats to use Northeast Delta Dental Stadium as the host for what we are calling the ‘NEVER FORGET’ NH 9/11 StairClimb to be held on Saturday, September 9, 2017.
The public will also be invited to join firefighters, friends and family from across New England to climb the equivalent of 110 stories in honor of the 343 firefighters who died on 9/11. Each participant will climb stairs in a 7-lap course through the stadium grandstands in remembrance carrying the name of one of the 343 firefighters lost that day. After the climb, the Samuel Adams Brewhouse in left field will be available for food and drinks.
100% of the profits and donations will be presented to the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation (NFFF).
